LADISLAO SIDOR's Obituary
Ladislao “Tata” Sidor, passed away peacefully in his home on August 8th, 2014. Tata,as he was lovingly called by his grandchildren, was born on January 27th, 1920 in a very small town of Machnitz, Trebnitz District, in the Galicia region of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire, later Germany.
At the age of 5, he, and his parents Johann Sydor and Anastasia Konotopska Sydor, settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina where Ladislao attended -from a very early age- the Salesian Don Bosco Catholic schools until his graduation with a specialty in Graphic Arts from Pio IX Ramos Mejia School.
The Graphic Arts were his passion, having worked at famed Newspapers such as La Prensa, El Correo de la Tarde and Clarin, later actively involved in all types of print media. This life passion -and his skills- would lead him to the United States in September of 1963 to permanently settle in New York City, working for many years in the Print Media and Catalogue industry, where he made -as he had done in Argentina- life-long friendships and unbreakable ties. Upon his partial retirement, he tried his hand in his own print shop in NY, only to compete with the then emerging computer technologies. After full retirement, he moved to Miami, Florida where, Beba and him dedicated themselves to nurturing a growing family as active and enganged grandparents and great-grandparents.
Tata has been called a visionary by those who admired his life’s courage, which included migrating to Argentina and later the USA.
He was a tireless worker of generous spirit. He was indeed a beacon for what is possible to achieve with determination and dedication, always accompanied by his devoted wife and the impeccable ethics he always practiced.
You had to understand the beginnings of this true self-made man. His words, his actions, his work, his generosity and his example live within all those who took the time to know him –even a little.
“Tata” is survived by his devoted and loving wife Mercedes “Beba” Sidor Alexander, his children Osvaldo A. Sidor (Cristina), Graciela M. Panelo Sidor (Raul) and Ricardo A. Sidor; grandchildren Andrea, Yvonne, Sergio, Eric, Nicol and Margaret and great-grandchildren Hunter, Jennifer, Julian, Adrian, Sebastian Joshua, Viviana, Sebastian Eric, Dillon and Alexa.
