KHALED BOHAJ ABDALLA's Obituary
Khaled Abdalla, 68, passed away on May 14, 2026 in Miami, Florida. Born on the Syrian island of Arwad on April 20, 1958, Khaled built a life defined by creativity, passion, and love for his family, friends and community. A gifted executive chef, Kal dedicated much of his career to the culinary world, most notably at A Fish Called Avalon and The Forge, where he became known not only for his exceptional talent in the kitchen, but also for the warmth, artistry, and heart he brought to every dish he created. Cooking was more than a profession to Kal, it was one of the many ways he expressed his artistic spirit. Beyond the kitchen, Kal was a true artist at heart. He found joy and inspiration through painting and photography, always seeking beauty in the world around him and sharing that perspective with those he loved. Kal is survived by his loving children: Kristine Skalicky and her husband Steven Skalicky; Stephanie Visco and her husband Dan Visco; and Andrew Abdalla. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Caleb, Everett, and Julian Skalicky, and Rory and Hunter Visco. He is further survived by his brother, Omar Abdullah, and his wife Marushi Abdullah; his nephew Dylan Abdullah; and his brothers and sisters overseas: Khaldyyeh, Baheejeh, Seham, Rajaa, Maha, Salah, and Yaser. Along with many extended family members and dear friends, Kal touched countless lives through his kindness, humor, creativity, and generous spirit.
