KATHRYN W. WHITAKER's Obituary
Kathryn E., 63 of 98th Street, Miami, Florida, died on September 16, 2013. She was born in New York City, New York on September 11, 1950. Kathryn graduated from Barry University in Miami and received a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Sociology in addition to earning a Masters in Business Administration from University of Miami. She was married to John D. Whitaker, Esq.
Kathryn held several executive positions during her tnture of 40 years with Sunrise Community culminating in her last assignment sd Vice President of Corporate Support Services for the organization. She was most admired for her commitment and dedication in providing compassionate care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She is survived by husband, John and children, John David II, Allyson Elizabeth as well as brothers, Robert and Richard Wood.
A celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, FL 33176 (305) 279-6644. Religious Services will be held on Saturday, Septmeber 21, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 7270 SW 120 Street, Pincresr, FL 33156 (305) 238-7562.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sunrise Community Foundation, Inc. located at 9040 SW 72 Street, Miami, FL 33173.
