Armour, Julia Henry, 90, wife of the late Philip D. Armour,Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, died peacefully in Miami, Florida on June 27, 2009. Mother of Julia A. Walker, Philip D. Armour, III and the late Alexandra Armour,
grandmother of C. Carter Walker, III, Julia Walker Robinson, Philip Armour, IV, Maximillan and Nicholas Armour and great-grandmother of Cole, Hart, Julia, Robbie, Malkom, Oskar and Raven. Julia was a life long sportswoman. She and Phil Armour started Armforth Kennels in 1947 and raised champion English Springer Spaniels. Their dogs placed 7 times (6 Firsts), in the National Championships from 1948-1961. Julia Armour was the first woman and first amateur to train, handle and win the National English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Championship in 1960.After Philip Armour died in 1964, Julia moved to Miami and went on to compete all over the world in the Live Pigeon Shooting Championships, where she became a World Champion. On September 14, 2002, Julia was elected to the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Hall of Fame. Born and raised in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, Julia is the daughter of the late T. Charlton and Julia Rush Biddle Henry.
