Julia Rita Garcia's Obituary
Julia Rita Garcia passed away peacefully at the age of 91 and went to heaven on Friday, December 4,
2020. Julia was born in Havana, Cuba on May 22, 1929 where she grew up and later married the late,
Roberto “Chino” Garcia. Julie, as many came to call her, worked for many years as a manicurist. She
was loved by many in her community. No matter where she went, she left a lasting impression. Julie
then became a full-time grandmother, also known as “Yeya” to her granddaughters.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Gilda Hernandez; granddaughters, Gilda Chickillo and Marlene Perez.;
and her great grandchildren; Stephanie Raton, Michael Perez, Natalie Raton and Vanessa Perez.
Julia was an active member of the Church of the Little Flower where she served as a Eucharistic minister.
She devoted her time to helping those in need by collecting food and donations for the needy. She also
delivered meals on the weekends and holiday baskets to families in need in her community. Her compassionate heart for helping others will always be remembered. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Thursday, December 10th at Van Orsdel on Kendall Drive. Following the viewing, a mass will be given in her honor at St. Kevin Catholic Church before she is laid in her final resting place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery.
