JOSEPHINE SNETRO's Obituary
Josephine Biamonte Snetro passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday June 11, 2013, three days before her 91st birthday. She was surrounded by her family and is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Anthony “Tony” Snetro. Born on June 14, 1922 in Sellia, Italy, Josephine came to the United States when she was seven. She resided in Plainville, Conn., attending Plainville High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and went on to earn her degree as a registered nurse at Hartford Hospital.
Josephine was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother (“Nanni”) and adoring great grandmother. She is also survived by her three children, Lauretta and her husband Alan Fogg, Anthony Sinatra and his wife Donna, and Gail Snetro-Plewman and her husband Nicholas. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Ashley , Trey, Ryan, Nicholas ,Danielle , Sophia and Rebecca; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Victoria Petit.
Josephine and Tony moved to Coral Gables in 1956 where they raised their family and lived for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for over 30 years, a founding parishioner of our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a season ticket holder of the Miami Opera, and a committed volunteer for her children’s schools and community.
Jo, as she was known to her friends, was the consummate Italian cook, and enjoyed hosting a houseful of family and friends for her special feasts. She was an accomplished seamstress, played on several bowling leagues for many years, and relished in being a second mother to all of her children’s friends. The family would like to give special thanks to their mother’s care giver, Ileana Sossa, for providing such loving and compassionate support.
Visitation will be held at the Van Orsdel Chapel, 11220 N. Kendall Dr , Sunday June 16 from 6 to 9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 11291 SW 142nd Avenue on Monday June 17 at 3 pm.
