JOSEPHINE DUNN DOLAN's Obituary
DOLAN, Jo Dunn,
died on November 14, 2015, at the age of 96. Jo was born in Ireland but grew up in New York City. In 1942, she married Thomas J. Dolan. Tom served in World War II in Europe for three years. Shortly after he came home, Tom was hired by a major oil company and Jo and Ton spent more than six years in Venezuela where Tom was part of a group that built an oil refinery. Everyone there seemed to like to travel. Jo and Tom got to travel bug too, and on their vacations then and in later years, they covered the globe. Because the climate in Venezuela was so appealing to them, Jo and her husband settled in Miami in 1953. Jo attended the University of Miami Law School and was admitted to the Florida Bar Association in 1957. She was one of the first women in Florida to be an attorney. She was very active in the Bar Association. After she retired, she started playing golf with her husband. Jo had a very happy marriage. She and Tom were always together, almost to the exclusion of others. After they had been married for 65 years, Tom passed away in 2007. Jo spent the last five years at East Ridge Retirement Center. She is survived by her nieces, Amy Lee Dunn and Sharon Elise Dunn, her nephew, Greg Dunn, her nieces-in-law, Patricia Dolan Stover and Lynn Kramer Krueger, and her nephews-in-law, Roger M. Dolan, Jr. and Jason Mauer. A Memorial Service will be held at East Ridge Retirement Village, 19301 S.W 87th Ave., Miami, Florida 33157, at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 20, 2015.
