I'm so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy. May you find comfort from your memories, as well as God’s word the bible. Why do people we love die? Romans 5:12 says: "That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." How loving of God to promise what is found at Revelation 21:4 which says, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Joe was one of the "originals" in the airline pilot field. He was fun to fly with and always had a quip or clever remark for any situation. I remember him well as a person that enjoyed the gift of life.

I was hired in November 1959, Delta's first Jet Class, and retired in November 2008 as a Stewardess/Flight Attendant. I was based in Chicago and Atlanta. I flew with Joe and remember the 880 and Joe well. Fortunately, we were around for the Hey Day of the Airlines and worked for a great company. So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I am sorry to hear of Mr. Iervolino's passing. I started with Delta at Ohare in 1972 as a ramp service agent and retired in 2001 in Phoenix. When I started we still had the Convair 880 aircraft which was a pretty spritely aircraft to fly. Some folks said Joe could fly the dickens out of the aircraft. I remember him for his wit when I would pass him in our inside ramp area lounge. His last name was an easy one to remember, a stand out name and I send condolences to his remaining family. IERVOLINO...HE WAS A LEGEND AMONG RAMP AGENTS SUPERVISORS FOR HIS EXPERT FLYING/HANDING SKILLS WITH THE THEN DELTA CV 880...HE FLEW IT LIKE A UASF BASED JET AIRCRAFT...WHAT A RIDE WHEN HE WAS AT THE CONTROLS!
