Jorge Luis Cano's Obituary
A man known by many names because that’s what he meant to so many people. Dad, Papi, Papo, Coqui, Cococo, Tío Coqui, Jorge, Mr. Cano. All of those names have special meanings to those who knew him. He was a man with a huge heart. A man that worked and lived for his family and friends. He loved his country so much he joined the contras to fight against Castro and communism and had to go into hiding. He left his country, his home, to escape communism, with a wife who was 8 months pregnant, two toddler sons aged 3 and 2 and nothing but the clothes on their backs and my moms wedding rings woven into the rattan purse and painted to look like rattan. He had a snarky sense of humor with his one liners. A quiet man but when he spoke everyone listened and usually laughed because of his joke. The original McGyver he could fix anything with crazy glue and duct tape. So much so that the grandkids used to say “Papi fix” when something broke. He loved his children but he lived for his grandkids. Everyone that knew him have a special memory of him. Hold onto to that and tell it often. He will live on through those of us who keep retelling our fondest memories and stories of him. He loved his friends and family very much. He leaves behind a wife, 4 children, 6 grandchildren, two great grandkids and many nieces, nephews, cousins, a brother and three sisters. May he Rest In Peace.
