John F. Rice's Obituary
Rice, John F. (Bob), 89, passed away on June 16, 2011. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bob moved to Miami in 1945, settling on Key Biscayne for the past 50 years. Bob served in the Army Air Corp in WWII, as a First Lieutenant, B17 pilot in the 2nd Bombardment Group out of North Africa, Italy and Russia. He retired as a Captain with Eastern Airlines after 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, and his children Robin and Michael and their spouses, Barry and Donna. He also was a loving grandfather to Melanie, Chance, Angelica and John Thomas. He was an avid fisherman that was always happy when out on the ocean. He will be remembered by all for his generosity and his kind and gentle soul. The family will be holding a private service at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be made in Bob’s memory to Catholic Hospice (www.catholichospice.org/305-822-2380) or the American Legion-Post 374. VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES
