I am so fortunate to have worked with John at A&B Pipe. He made me feel welcome at the company when I started as new employee and always had the best advice. I cherish the mentorship and will forever carry the skills he taught me that have made me better equipped to do my job. John’s knowledge and patience seemed limitless when teaching, always taking the time to explain even the simplest concepts. I pray for peace and healing for his family, he loved them so much. We were introduced to John thru David Merzel our Accountant at Kaufman Rossin back in 2017. John started from ground zero …and brought more structure to our organization – made us start using purchase orders. Ugh…we all thought – more work! John got us all on-board with his knowledge and sense of humor.
John’s title here ….yes…he had a title ….was Internal Auditor ….I know he just loved it! NOT…. He reminded me - he did financials here …I told him no no…you do more! When I made collections calls…yes yes…I would say…”I have to report back to our Internal Auditor…he wants me to clear this up today!” And yes…John would laugh!
We shared an office here at Blue Ocean….and John and I would work well together….whatever he needed – I was his assistant! Lol…. And then there was the PPP = Paycheck Protection Program….John did a great job on that!!! Made sure I kept all my receipts and back-up for him….and then I go and ask him to help 2 of our Sales Reps apply for the loan! I know John just loved me for that!!! But he did it! And they appreciated his help! That’s our John!
I could go on …and on!! And I will think of him often…and I know most of us will! I’ll be having a Stella tonite in his honor! (maybe more than “a”). And…of course those of us that worked with him will think of him often -- when we enter his favorite password. Sshhh….don’t tell.
To his family…..he luv’d you all soooo much!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you!! And John is watching over you all!!

I was in shock the moment I heard of John's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him at A&B Pipe and Supply, and I really admired his wisdom. He was such a happy man, and would always tell us how he would enjoy a "Stella Beer" on weekends surrounded by his beautiful family.

A million great memories with John from early days of basketball, wiffleball, football, to Jr. High hangin’ out, haircuts, “Rock ‘n Roll Club,” High school hanging out, Biology Class field trip, Harry J’s, Ruthie Halladay’s class (Pa-Ha),West beach, IU, fart tapes, Casa Gallardo and the Gathering, Steel Cities Steel, “Dude, How ‘bout some breakage!” And many more!
John was a great man and a great friend. He will truly be missed!

Where to start, I have so many memories of John I do not know where to begin. I first met John in little league baseball, neither one of. Us were any good but that did not matter, we had fun, (In the picture he is at the far right, first row, I am right behind him.) I think we played on the same team for two years. We met up again in 7th grade and he, Dave Patrick and I developed a bond over fishing, girls and music, Mostly fishing and RUSH, we were useless when it came to girls. Not for lack of trying. We would get together and egg each other on to call our current crush and ask them out. The few times we gathered the courage to try, we got shot down.
We had Better success and such good times fishing in the clay pits and Lake George. There was a fish fair held every summer that we always loved going to see. You could enter drawings for gifts. So one year we had the brilliant idea of making a few hundred copies of the entry forms and filling them out with our names and our family names . We won big time, including alll expense paid trip to a fishing resort in Minnesota.
In 7th grade John, Dave and I went on a trip to Mexico with the Spanish Club. The picture is of John with Two friends in front of Aztec Pyramids in Mexico City. If our parents knew of the things we got up to on that trip, they would have flipped out.
Some of my favorite memories are from playing football and stickball in the Young’s back yard. We were always at their house.
We had our skiing trips to Colorado, Michigan and of course the Pines. What can I say, John was always a lot of fun. I always wanted him around..
I guess I have rambled enough, if you met Jogn you knew how special he was. My parents used to tell me that from the moment I started talking, I asked for a brother. Looking back now I realize I had one!
