JOHN "JACK" WEBB's Obituary
John Frederick “Jack” Webb, 82, passed away on August 24, 2018, in Villa Rica, Georgia.
He was born in Rochester, New Hampshire, and spent a unique childhood in Central and
South America as part of the United Fruit Company family. Jack especially enjoyed his
years in La Lima, Honduras, where he had many happy adventures with those who would
turn out to be lifelong friends.
Jack graduated from Tulane University with a degree in political science and was an officer
in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to have a fulfilling career with the Central
Intelligence Agency as an intelligence officer specializing in Latin America, followed by a
second chapter as a certified federal court interpreter and translator. Jack spoke fluent
Spanish and was always reading, learning and talking about language and history. He was
a natural storyteller and the life of the party. After his retirement, Jack enjoyed long bike
rides and tending to his palm, avocado and key lime trees, which he gifted to anyone who
asked about them.
Jack was the beloved husband of Mary Bergell Webb, his wife of 34 years; cherished Papa
of Rachel Fernandez (Erik), John Webb (Julie) and Margaret Webb; GrandPapa to Ruby
Webb; and the devoted brother of Corinna Biondolillo (Michael). He was predeceased by his
parents Robert and Corinna Roesch Webb and his sister, Roberta Beer.
Visitation and a celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 11220 N. Kendall Drive in Miami. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps charity Toys for Tots.
