John David Trotman's Obituary
John David Trotman, 91, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Born on February 5, 1934, in St. Joseph, Barbados, John’s life was one of dedication, hard work, faith, and deep love for his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, John later dedicated 25 years of service to Pan American World Airways before retiring. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—especially playing the lotto, which never failed to bring him a spark of excitement.
John’s journey took him from his cherished roots in Barbados, to Brooklyn, New York, and finally to Miami, Florida, where he built a life filled with lasting friendships and unshakable family bonds. Above all, John loved Jesus Christ and lived his life as a man of faith. His trust in the Lord guided his decisions, comforted him in life’s trials, and gave him peace as he took his final rest.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Ailsa, siblings Dorothy, Jason, and many other dear loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia, and her daughter Glendia; his daughters Marina, Karen, Sherri, Tamia, and Audrey; siblings Cecilia (Celia), Shirley Jasper, Victor, Hilary and Verne, nieces Kathy, Stephanie, Jennifer, Roshelle, and Reneaka. John was also the proud grandfather to 8- Karina, Shyiah, Carrie, Celina, Kyndra, Nyla, Gabrielle and Skyla, each of whom brought him endless joy and pride. He loved watching them grow, sharing his wisdom, and passing on stories from his remarkable life. His legacy of love, strength, faith, and humor will forever be treasured by his family.
John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him, and we rejoice in knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Interment details (cemetery name, date, and time)-A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Van Orsdel Funeral Services, 11220 N Kendall Dr, Miami, FL 33176. Viewing will begin at 9:30 AM, with the service at 10:00 AM. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Park South, 13900 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33186.
