.JOHN JOSEPH STEVENS JR (JACK) 86. Passed away Jan. 15, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s . Born and raised in Dorchester, Ma. He was the son of John Stevens and Mary Connelly, County of Mayo, Ireland. A 40 yr. resident of Miami, Jack served in the U.S. Army. He played hockey and tennis and was drafted by the St. Louis Browns as a pitcher. He co-owned and operated the Aero Country Club in Kendall and the Santacroce Restaurant in Coral Gables. Jack was a Management Consultant for the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the Univ. of Miami School of Medicine, Dept. of Ophthalmology. He is survived by Helene, his beloved wife of 60 years, his daughter Gina Maddox (Doug), son John Stevens (Michele), sister Joan Deveney, 4 grandchildren: John IV, Ivy, Julianna , Nina and a large extended family. Above all, Jack was an All American~Irishman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10am at St.Hugh Catholic Church 3460 Royal Rd. Coconut Grove, FL. After the Mass, a procession will leave the St. Hugh Catholic Church to Caballero Woodlawn Cemetery South for inurnment. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice or TrustBridge Hospice of Palm Beach, 5300 E. Ave. Palm Beach, FL 33407.Above all he loved God and adored his family.
