JOHN CHELLINO's Obituary
John Walter Chellino, 72, passed away on June 20, 2024, in Miami, FL. Born on August 6, 1951, in Joliet, IL, he was a son to the late Sam and Margaret (Benson) Chellino.
John earned his high school diploma from Joliet Catholic before pursuing further education at Beloit College. He later obtained a Master's in Social Work from Boston University and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University. Professionally, John was a respected Professor of Law in Malaysia and a skilled translator at Rio Bravo Translations.
Beyond his academic and professional achievements, John was known for his kind, gentle, intelligent, and curious nature. He had a deep appreciation for the natural and artistic beauty of the world, which was evident in his hobbies. An avid bicyclist, he enjoyed exploring Miami, often riding to attend yoga classes in local parks. John enjoyed traveling extensively, often to visit family and friends living around the world, and was also politically engaged and relished social gatherings with friends over meals.
John is survived by his brother, Tom Chellino; sister, Mary Anne (Chellino) Sullivan; nephews, Michael and Patrick Sullivan; niece, Kathleen (Sullivan) Charles; and five great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The arrangements are under the care of Van Orsdel in Miami, FL.
