Joel E. Suarez's Obituary
JOEL E. SUAREZ, 69, passed peacefully on May 5, 2012. He was born in Holguin, Oriente, Cuba on July 13, 1942 to Eugenio Suarez and Alicia Suarez Aguilera. Joel was proud of his Cuban heritage and also a proud US citizen, flying the US flag on every holiday and serving in the US army from 1965 – 67. Upon leaving the military he graduated from UNC Charlotte. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 30 years where he well liked. His true passion was his love of family and orchids. He was a member of the South Florida Orchid Society and looked forward to attending the annual orchid show every year. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and an adoring uncle. He was loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, gentle, and self-controlled. He is survived by his sister, Miriam Dearson, nephews Humberto (Rebecca) and Alex (Denise) Baez, niece Anita (Charls) Gomez, and 10 grand nephews and nieces. A viewing will be held at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 11220 N. Kendall Dr., Miami, Florida 33176 on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6pm – 10pm and services will be held at Van Orsdel on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9am.
