JOAN THERESA MONAHAN's Obituary
Joan T. Monahan, 94, of Coral Gables, FL entered the Kingdom of Heaven on August 2nd,2021. Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Providence, Rhode Island she moved down to South Florida in 1956. For countless mango seasons, Joan joyously taught pre-school and was a parks and recreation department supervisor specializing in arts and crafts for the City of Coral Gables. With her sharp wit and gregarious nature, Joan was known to be the life of the party and left many with an everlasting impression. Joan loved to travel, cook fine meals, host lavish parties, and craft unique art. She enjoyed spending her leisure hours with her family and friends in the Florida Keys and will always be remembered as being warm and friendly as well as tough as nails. She was predeceased by her husband and two children, George H. Monahan, George H. Monahan Jr., and Mary Ann Chimerakis. A visitation service will be held at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm - 4 pm on August 5th,2021. Funeral Mass will be held on August 6th,2021 at 10:00 am at Saint Augustine Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to their favorite charity or planting a tree in Joan’s memory.
