Jessie Granger Gonzalez's Obituary
GONZALEZ, JESSIE, of Miami, passed away on March 15, 2009, predeceased by her mother, Mae Roach Granger, of Orange, Texas, her son David Monitor, of Chicago, Illinois, and her former husband, Armando Herrera of West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Port Arthur, Texas on June 27, 1935, she received her Bachelor's degree from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, in August of 1972, and later received her Master's from the University of Miami in 1989. She worked for the Miami-Dade Public School System for 20 years, mainly in Alternative Outreach. Jessie is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Monitor of Wisconsin, Angela Shelton of North Carolina, and Antoinette Herrera of Miami, Florida; a son, Armand Angel Herrera of Rapid City, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Granger, of Webster, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and her former students alike. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church: 7303 SW 64 St. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
