Jesse M. Ryon's Obituary
RYON
Jesse Metz Ryon was born in Taylor's Creek, Georgia, on July 21, 1916. His parents,
Carl and Ruth Ryon, along with his 6 siblings later moved to Jacksonville, Fl, where he
grew up. As a young man he moved to Miami where he met and married Ilah Pearl
Storer. They had been married for 56 years at the time of her death in 1998. Jesse
joined the Army and served his country as an airplane mechanic during WWII. Upon
returning from the war, he worked for the Postal Service for his entire career. He
began as a letter carrier, loving to ride his bicycle through the neighborhoods
making friends with everyone. He later became a Supervisor and had to give up his
bike. At
the time of his retirement he was the Superintendent of the Miami Springs Post Office.
Jesse was a long time member of the Central Church of Christ and later, the Sunset
Church of Christ. In both of these settings he was always found to be the quiet,
unassuming servant. Always ready to fix, make, give, find, or buy anything that was
needed for any project or person.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Ryon and his wife, Cathy of Warrenton,VA, his
daughter, Jesslyn Witte, of Diamond Bar, CA, grandchildren, and 12
great-grandchildren. Visitation 7 – 9 pm Friday, June 12th. Funeral Service 10 am Saturday, June13th at
VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL
