Jesse lived earnestly, giving 110% of himself to the things he cared about; athletics, friends, family...
He and I had recently gotten close but my fondest memory of him is when we went to Cuba at the start of this year. There was never a dull moment and hardly any sleep during the trip. We enjoyed as much of the motherland as we could in that short weekend. Varadero is paradise immersed in the misery and hardships the Cuban people face daily. This world is cruel for taking a great man from us at the prime of his life. Jesse was no stranger to these unfortunate facts but he had the strength to tackle each day head on, enjoying his time or at the very least being a joy to those around him. These are difficult times but looking up to Jesse for guidance- thinking about him, his actions and memories shared- has helped me find some solace.
My deepest condolences to the family. I thank you for raising someone I'll never forget.
Rest in peace 🙏
