I met Jeff at the Pan Yard in Miami 1998, we had a lot in common, especially moving down from the cold north to sunny Florida. Jeff knew good music and play various instruments. My friend Jeff was an intellectual and there was no doubt about that, with a wonderful sense of humor. I remember telling him my misfortunes and he would always reply, yes man I have been through that too.
Rest easy my friend…
What the tree represents is the reason I decided to plant a tree. He was a free spirit, his energy when you connected with him was infectious, he loved life!! Would be missed.. May he RIP and eternal light shine on upon him.
Leo and Bev, we love you Always!! BLESSINGS!!

Jeffrey De Souza was my next-door neighbor.
I first met him in 1967.
We did what 12- and 14-year-olds did back then—
played football and cricket,
played mas for the first time,
and went to parties.
Jeffrey loved the guitar. He played at home and with cultural groups, always immersed in music and expression.
Over time, life took us on different paths. We both migrated to the United States, and though distance separated us, we would reconnect from time to time.
The last time I spent with Jeff was at Miami Airport, where he met me just to pass some time together before my flight to Trinidad. That simple act meant everything.
He was a brother from a different mother—
and he will be deeply missed.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
