JEANETTE GONZALEZ's Obituary
Jeanette (Jean) Gonzalez, 88, of Miami, Florida passed away peacefully February 19, 2013 in her home surrounded by family.
Jean was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island to Deeb and Minerva Zahralban in 1924, and was one of ten children. Her family moved to Brooklyn, New York when she was 13 years old. She married Herminio (Henry) Gonzalez in 1947 and they moved to Miami in 1950 with their infant daughter, Maria, where she resided until her passing.
Jean retired 22 years ago and worked all of her career in the garment industry. She supervised many employees and many areas of responsibility, and was well loved by the employees. To this day, a number of her former employees remember her on holidays and her birthday. During her early retirement she devoted much of her time as caregiver to her husband and other family members. Jean had a heart of gold and loved her entire family with all of her heart. She had a very special love for children. She had a special gift of befriending everyone she came in contact with, even if they had just met.
Jean was very generous to many religious charities and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She will be missed by everyone who knew her, but her precious memory will live on in their hearts forever.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Glenn Richardson, grandson Bryce and his wife, Lone, grandson, Scott and his wife, Natalie, and great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Hannah, Aiden and Cannon. She is also survived by her brothers, Albert and Tony, and sisters Mary, Sarah and Agnes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry, as well as her beloved parents, Deeb and Minerva, and brothers, Charles, Gabe, Joseph and George.
The visitation will be on Friday, February 22nd from 6:00pm through 9:00pm, with a memorial service to be held at 8:00pm. There will be an additional visitation on Saturday, February 23rd from 9:30am through 11:30am, followed by a Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7270 SW 120 Street, in Pinecrest at 12:30pm. Her burial will be at Woodlawn South Cemetery, following the Mass.
