Jean D. Kilpatrick's Obituary
KILPATRICK, JEAN, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister,and friend passed away Friday, Nov. 14th, 2008. Jean was born in Hawaii in 1923, and was raised in Newport, Rhode Island. She graduated from Pembroke College at Brown University in 1945, with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Jean worked as a registered nurse at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Dr. John Kilpatrick. Jean and John married in 1950, and they eventually settled in Coral Gables in 1956. Here they raised their 4 children, and enjoyed many fun times together boating, fishing,and golfing. Throughout her lifetime, Jean was deeply blessed with the love, camaraderie, and craziness of a wide circle of wonderful family and friends. Jean's proudest accomplishment was being a great mom to her 4 children - Mike Kilpatrick (Sharon), Judy Nixon (James), Jean Marie Daniel (Bill), and Mark. In addition to her children, Jean is survived by her brother, Bill Duba, her grandchildren, Sean, Chris, and Caitlin Nixon, and David, Laura, and Julie Kilpatrick. Jean is also survived by her greatgrandchildren, Bella, Kyle, Dylan, Nathan, and Lucas, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, Jean leaves behind a myriad of special friends, especially Bev Coggins, her devoted friend of 67 years. Jean was predeceased by her husband, John, her parents, John and Helen, her brother, Jack, and her grandson, John Paul. In celebration of Jean's life, a Visitation will be held (today) Sunday evening, Nov.16th, from 6-8 pm at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday morning, Nov. 17th, at St. Augustine Church, 1400 Miller Rd., Coral Gables. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Park South Cemetery - 11600 S.W.112 St., Miami. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Duvall Home which cares for her nephew, "Duba" or to Mitchell's Place, which cares for her greatgrandson, Kyle.
