Jean Lee Tulloch's Obituary
Jean May Lee was born on October 7, 1935, to Vincent and Viola Lee, as the third of nine children, in the quiet hills of Aboukir, Cave Valley, Saint Ann, Jamaica. At 13 years old, Jean moved from Aboukir to Christiana, Manchester to live with her adopted parents, Haleem and Laurice Zacca. Jean attended Knox Community College, Alexander Commercial School and the Rose Leon School of Beauty, in Kingston.
It was while living in Kingston that she met Sylvester Tulloch. On May 5, 1965, she married the Detective Superintendent and after 26 years, he passed away. The couple had four children: Sharon, Sylvester Jr., and twins, Patrice and Ann Marie. It was very important to Jean to maintain close family ties. The house on Meadowbrook Ave became a second home to relatives and friends visiting from England, Canada and the United States. Jean spent most of her career in Kingston as a store and boutique manager at Hanna’s Downtown, Georgie Girl Shoes Store, 7th Avenue Department Store, Joy Laine and Elaine’s Boutiques.
In the early 1980s Jean moved to Bronx, New York. She lived with her sister Cynthia Lee, and was in close proximity to her brothers. Jean did not like the cold weather and the fast pace of New York, and leapt at the opportunity to relocate to Miami, Florida. Her first and only job was a nurse and companion to Stanley and Blanche Bender in Coral Gables, Florida. In 1988, Jean purchased her current home in Miami, Florida (Kendall). Jean had an immense passion for plants, especially orchids, which she cared for on a regular basis.
Throughout her lifetime, Jean maintained close and enduring friendships. She was always a phone call and WhatsApp message away. Jean was generous to a fault, she was a straightforward person with a loving touch, who adored her family. She was a gracious hostess, who enjoyed seeing her guests well fed and happy.
Many of Jean's loved ones predeceased her including her parents Vincent and Viola Lee, Haleem and Laurice Zacca, husband Sylvester Tulloch, her son Sylvester Tulloch Jr., her beloved Uncle Lloyd Green, Aunt Ivy Waul, her brother Michael Zacca, friends Dearie Cumming, Pearl Weir, Patsy Howell, Jerry Bender, Ralph and Pauline Thompson.
On April 12, 2023 Jean transitioned from this life. She is now our guardian angel.
