JEAN MARIE TSAIRIS's Obituary
Jean Marie Tsairis, 89, Miami Florida, passed away October 4, 2016. Jean was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 25, 1927 and graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn NY in 1945. Jean had two brothers and one sister; George (deceased), William “Bill” and Ann (deceased).
After high school Jean went to work for a large Law Firm in NY City as a stenographer. After the death of her first husband Thomas, Jean went to work as a stenographer at Grumman Aerospace in Long Island NY.
Jean married Thomas Malloy on September 11, 1949 and had 2 children Joan and Thomas James (deceased). Her husband Thomas passed away in November of 1959. Jean met Lawrence “Larry” Tsairis in 1963 and they were married on January 19th 1964. Larry and Jean had a son John Lawrence who was born on March 25, 1965.
Jean was a homemaker and also worked with Larry at the family owned travel agency in Wantagh, NY. In June of 1980 Larry and Jean relocated from Wantagh, NY to Miami, Fl. Jean worked in furniture sales at Burdines and Macys and retired in 1994. After the passing of Larry in 1995, Jean lived out the rest of her life in Miami.
Jean loved to spend time with her family and loved to travel. She had a passion for cooking and reading. She loved to host holiday family gatherings where she prepared many Greek dishes which she learned from her mother in law Mary Tsairis.
Jean is survived by her daughter Joan Wolin and son in law Hannu Wolin of Lanexa Virginia and son John Tsairis and daughter in law Sandra Tsairis of Miami Florida and daughter in law Debbie Malloy of Davie Florida; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Wolin, Ryan Malloy, Kristina Wolin, Michael Tsairis and Julia Tsairis. Jean is also survived by her brother William “Bill” Parlow and nieces and nephews, Robin Foster, Lynn Margheim, Kathy Parlow, Patti Parlow, Bill Parlow, Jamie Parlow, Kurt Parlow, Chris Parlow, Susan Noruk, Rick Parlow and Beth Zachary.
A viewing and wake will be held on Tuesday October 11, 2016 at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel at 11220 N. Kendall Drive from 6pm to 10pm. The memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church of Kendall on Wednesday October 12 at 11am followed by the Interment at Miami Memorial Park where Jean will be laid to rest.
