JEAN LUC MITTON's Obituary
Jean Luc Mitton, known as “Lucky” was born on November 18, 1930. Lucky, the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Mitton went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2016.
Lucky was born in Gonaives, Haiti and attended Catholic school all his life. As an adult he loved to dance, ride his motorcycle, and eat (yes, as small as he was). Lucky was very skillful. He enjoyed fixing his car and electronic devices around the house. He also took pleasure in watching a young lady across the street who later became his wife. He married the love of his life, Gertha Brisard, also known as “Tita” on October 28, 1960 in Haiti. Lucky’s passion was always music. He was a fine dancer and was known for his love to throw parties and serve as the DJ.
Although Lucky was surrounded with love and many family and friends in Haiti, he decided to venture to the United States in 1968 after he and Tita delivered their first child Katia. Shortly thereafter, Lucky landed in Brooklyn, New York where he spent the next 40 years. In 1970 Lucky visited Paris and Africa. Later that year, his wife and his daughter joined him in Brooklyn. His son Rodney was born four years later. Lucky proudly served the public by maintaining a safe and clean environment at Bird’s C. Collar Hospital on Roosevelt Island, New York. After 20 years of service, he retired.
Jean Luc Mitton passed away peacefully on February 24, 2016. Lucky was loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife; Gertha Mitton, daughter; Katia Lacoste-Noel, son; Rodney Mitton, grand-children; Katrena and Tyrell Lacoste, son-in law; Ronald Noel and his remaining sibling; Violette Legrand.
Lucky had will, determination, and resilience. He fought a good fight and lived a great life.
