Janet Elizabeth Shrader's Obituary
Janet Elizabeth Kniskern Shrader, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 19, 2019. She was born in Louisville KY in 1928 to Charles Beckham Kniskern and Mary Elizabeth Kniskern. She had lived in Miami since she was 2 yrs old, moving here with her mother and 2 brothers while her father continued working in Louisville Kentucky for several years during the hard times after the Depression before returning to Miami and his family. She attended Miami High, where she first met her future husband, Clive Shrader. She went on to graduate from the University of Miami where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and a PKA sweetheart. It was during her college years that she dated Clive. They married in November 1950 and were married for almost 65 years before he passed away in 2015. She and Clive were very involved in the competitive swimming world for years because of their children's participation in the sport, taking active roles in the management of the sport and assisting at swim meets. She was always available for any family member or friend who needed advice, information, or help of any kind. She adored her grandsons and spent lots of time with them taking them on trips and attending all of their sporting events. She and Clive were active Board Members for many years at Juno Ocean Club and loved their time there. She also was an active member of Granada Presbyterian and was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ. She is predeceased by her husband, Clive, her son, Steve, her son in law John Robert Payne, and her brothers Charles Beckham Kniskern Jr and Ken Knisken. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Payne and Kathy Hutchins, her daughter in law Valerie Shrader, her eight grandchildren, Jeremy(Bridget) Shrader, Weston (Amy) Hutchins,, Ryan (Jodie) Hutchins, Jason Payne, Trevor Payne, Tyler Hutchins, Dylan Shrader and Cory Hutchins, 2 great grandsons, Asa Shrader and Mason Payne, and her great granddaughter Stevie Shrader, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Her family is having private services. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, a charity that she loved because it helped children.
