Jane Eloise Maher's Obituary
On Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020, Jane Maher, loving mother of two children, passed away at the age of 72 in Miami Florida.
Jane was born in Duval County on November 20, 1947. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and studied nursing at Florida State University. She received a master’s degree from Florida International University.
Her career as a nurse and nurse educator spanned 37 years. She worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Baptist Hospital and home health agencies. Jane received numerous recognitions and honors for her work in nursing education.
Jane had a lifelong passion for learning. She read constantly, amassing a large collection of articles and books over her lifetime. Outside of books she found happiness in the ocean. She found balance on the beaches of Key Biscayne, Naples and Sanibel. In 2005 she retired in Estero Florida. Jane was an active member of the church, including many years at Saint Matthews Episcopal Church in Miami.
Jane was preceded in death by her mother Lilyan Southwell, her father Howard Paul, and her former spouse Dan Maher. She is survived by her former spouse and father of her children, Stuart Sutta, her two son’s Michael Sutta (Susan) and David Sutta (Amanda), her grandchildren Evan Sutta, Justin Sutta, Ashley Sutta and Sophia Sutta, her sister Katherine White and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Plans for a beachside memorial service are in the process of being made.
