JANE E BRAGG's Obituary
Jane Ellen Bragg of Coral Gables, FL passed away on August 21 from respiratory failure caused by ALS. She was diagnosed with ALS in February of 2024. Jane was being seen by the ALS Center/ Department of Neurology at the University of Miami. She was also participating in clinical research at the University of Miami to learn more about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative diseases including frontotemperoal dementia which she was also afflicted with. She allowed her information from this study to be shared all over the world with those facilities also studying and searching for a cure. Jane was born August 5th, 1957 in Hinton, West Virginia to James and Rose Bragg. She grew up in Hialeah, Florida and lived there with her parents until 1999 when she purchased a home in Coral Gables, FL. Jane graduated from the University of Miami with honors and in the top of her class receiving a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Business Administration and went on to become a Nurse Practitioner. She worked for 42 years at Nicklaus Children's Hospital (previously known as Miami Children's Hospital). Jane was a certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse, worked in Palliative Care and was a member of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT). She was an extraordinary human being and a brilliant nurse. She truly lived and breathed the nursing profession. Jane was kind, caring and always put patients and families first. Jane never married and loved her work. She loved all the children she cared for and devoted her entire life to their care and well being. She was an Instructor and taught classes sharing her knowledge and experience. Jane had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She is survived by her Mom, Rose Bragg of Hialeah, Brother William Bragg of Hialeah, Brother Thomas Bragg and His wife Connie of Hardy, VA, Nephew Harry Bragg of Coral Gables, FL, Niece Heather Longobardi and her husband Anthony, Great-Niece Haylee Longobardi of Wauconda, IL, many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia and Kansas. Jane is preceded in death by her Father James Bragg. She was the main caregiver for her father the last 4 years of his life. She visited with him daily ensuring his care and well being. Jane was faithful and devoted to her Dad to the end. Jane had many passions in life. She loved her work, she loved to travel, she loved collecting antiques and her biggest passion was she loved animals. She became a vegetarian at an early age and would not eat any living creature with a face. Jane rescued many dogs and cats and if she could not find them a home they became hers. She helped many others who were in need of financial assistance for their own pets never asking to be paid back. Jane loved Florida and was a lifelong resident. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea in a private ceremony. The Family suggests that those who choose to celebrate her life give to the ALS Association. Thank you Jane for being all you were, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece and Cousin. Your love, laughter and friendship will be missed but we will all carry You in our heart always. You may no longer be with us in person, but your spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone you touched. We all will miss your smile, your warmth and your unwavering love. You will be forever cherished and remembered.
