James M. Stewart's Obituary
James Malcolm Stewart, a long time resident of Coral Gables, went to be with the Lord on July, 31, 2013 at the age of 93. Jim was born in Lumberton, MS where he grew up on the family farm and as a teenager moved with the family to Sylvester, GA. He graduated from the University of Georgia and later served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, assigned as skipper to a PT boat in the South Pacific during WWII. When he returned home he fell in love with and married Dorothy Jane McPhaul from Poulan, GA. They were together for 61 years until her death in 2007. Jim worked as a sales representative for Riverside Manufacturing Company for 40 years. He was also active in Granada Presbyterian Church as an elder and Sunday School Superintendent. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working in the yard and lately writing books about his life and family. Jim was a faithful Christian, loving husband and father, a proud veteran and a loyal Georgia Bulldog fan. He loved to laugh, tell a story, was generous with his time and resources and always gave helpful advice. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Stewart Holmes, two sons, James M. Stewart, Jr. and W. Daniel Stewart, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
