JAMES A ORTIZ's Obituary
James A. Ortiz, 93, 1920-2014. Loving husband to Carmen for 65 years, father to Denise, Judy and Jeffrey (deceased), grandfather to Martin, Matthew, Amanda (Adrian), Jessica, and Chris, and great grandfather to Avery, passed away after a brief illness. Jim was a proud D-Day Army Veteran who landed on Utah Beach, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. Jim was a long time Key Biscayne resident who owned an international air conditioning and refrigeration business until he retired. He enjoyed giving back to his condominium community, serving many years on the board of Commodore Club West, and participated in the local American Legion Post. The Key Biscayne Rotary honored Jim with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his service to his country. Jim will be missed by his wife, children, family and many friends. Visitation 4 pm until Service 6 pm Saturday May 17th at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL.
