Imogene P. Flick's Obituary
FLICK, Imogene “Jimmie” Moore Parramore, age 90, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010. She was born to Clara C. and Philip J. Parramore in Madison, Fl., on Dec. 1, 1919. She lived in Miami since 1948. Jimmie graduated from Florida State College For Women (now FSU) with a bachelor’s degree in education. Jimmie was a lifelong lover of all animals and was never without a dog (or 2). A first-class equestrian, she and her husband, Willis, bred, raised and showed Arabian horses throughout the United States and Canada. Their farm, Glenglade Arabians, was well-known for prestigious Egyptian bloodlines and award-winning horses shown both for conformation and performance. Jimmie also was a wonderful competitive tennis player, an expert seamstress, avid gardener and bridge player. Genteel and very much the lady, even to her last days, Jimmie treated all with kindness and respect, no matter their station in life. Her wonderful sense of humor, Southern grace and strong faith in God were well known. Jimmie was deeply devoted to her family and a steadfast friend to a wide circle of people. Jimmie was a long-time member of Granada Presbyterian Church and the women’s circle. She also belonged to Chi Omega sorority, PEO Sisterhood, the Diggers and Riviera Country Club. Jimmie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Willis; sons Willis Jr. “Hugh” (Roseann) of Stuart, Fl., Elliott (Pansy) of Austin, Tx., Charles (Patience) of Miami; and daughters Phillis Jones (Walter) of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl., and Mary Love Jones of Stuart, Fl. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Russell and Kyle Flick, Lauren and Elise Flick, Penny, Bonnie and Willis P. Flick, Philip, Emily and Charles Jones, and Elliott and Lilla Jones. A memorial service will be held at Granada Presbyterian Church, 950 University Dr., Coral Gables on Tuesday, May 25, at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Madison, Florida on Thursday, May 27.
