Ileana Ferrer Govantes' Obituary
Ileana Ferrer Govantes, 91, natural de Pinar del Rio, Cuba, paso a la presencia del Senor en Octubre 14, 2019 en su residencia de Miami.
Nacio en 1928 y sus padres fueron Dr. Claudio Ferrer y Maria de la Fe Rodriguez.
En su larga y extensa Carrera professional que comenzo en 1951, al graduarse en la escuela de Bellas Artes “San Alejandro” en La Habana, Cuba, recibio varios premios , bajo la tutoria del maestro Leopoldo Romanach.
Tras su salida al exilio, residio en Falls Church y McLean, Virginia, finalmente estableciéndose en Miami, Florida.
De su estancia en Virginia, nos regalo su mural mas importante, “La Divina Creacion”, que se encuentra en el Chapel de Colombia Baptist Church, en agradecimiento a su congregacion y al Senor por las bendiciones recibidas.
Su Carrera artistica ha sido muy prolifera.Rica en transparencias, colorido y figuras que plasma en colecciones como: “Jose Marti”, “Las Palmas son Novias “Amor”, “Vitral”,”Girasoles” y su obra inconclusa “La Ciudad de Cristal”.
Las exposiciones de su obra artistica en USA, America Latina y Europa le han galardonado con premios y reconocimientos.Su obra artistica es un homenaje a su cubania que tiene su maxima expresion al exaltar la figura del Apostol Jose Marti.
A Ileana le sobreviven sus dos hijos: Luis e Ileana, sus nietos y biznietos.
Las honras funebres tendran lugar en la funeraria Van Orsdel localizada en el 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, FL el viernes 18 de Oct del 2019 desde las 5 PM hasta las 10 PM. El servicio religioso tendra lugar el sabado 19 de Oct del 2019 a las 10:30 AM. Terminado el servicio se procedera al entierro en el Cementerio Graceland South, localizado en 13900 SW 117 Ave.
Ileana Ferrer Govantes, 91, a native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, joined our Father in Heaven on October 14, 2019 at her home in Miami.
She was born in 1928 and her parents were Dr. Claudio Ferrer and Maria de la Fe Rodriguez.
In her long and extensive professional career that began in 1951, she graduated from “San Alejandro” School of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba. She received several awards, under the guidance of the teacher Leopoldo Romanach.
After her exile, she resided in Falls Church and McLean, Virginia, finally settling in Miami, Florida.
From her stay in Virginia, she gave us her most important mural, "The Divine Creation", which is in the Chapel of Colombia Baptist Church. This mural was in appreciation to the congregation and the Lord for the blessings she had received.
Her artistic career has been very prolific. Rich in transparency, color and figure which is reflected in collections such as: "Jose Marti", "Las Palmas are Novias" Amor", "Stained Glass", "Sunflowers" and her unfinished work "The City of Crystal".
The exhibitions of her artistic work in the USA, Latin America, and Europe have blessed her with many awards and recognitions. Her artistic work is a tribute to her Cuban roots which has her maximum expression in exalting the figure of Jose Marti.
Ileana is survived by her two children: Luis and Ileana, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place at the Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel located at 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, FL on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5 PM until 10 PM. The religious service will take place on Saturday October 19, 2019 at 10:30 AM. The service will be proceeded by the burial at Graceland South Cemetery, located at 13900 SW 117 Ave.
