Herbert Odell, 93, died Dec. 13, 2011 born in Augusta, GA. A Miami resident since 1927, he graduated from Miami High School in 1936. He was employed by Southern Bell 43 years, retiring in 1979. A member of Central Baptist Church since 1939, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Church Treasurer and Deacon Emeritus in 2006. A member of the Coral Gables Lions Club since 1959. A lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America where he was affectionately known as “Spot”. Survived by his loving wife of 71 years Mary Lucille, and his only daughter Margaret Sue Shealy (Paul), and a sister Grace P. Brooks, and sister in law Rosemarie Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews and also loving caregivers of many years Redia Laurent and Gina Catie. He was predeceased by his brother James C. Morris. Visitation 10 am until Service time 11 am Friday at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL.
