One day after her 100th birthday, Helene Putnam Kichefski passed away on August 26th, 2021. Raised in Coral Gables, Helene graduated from Ponce de Leon High School and attended the University of Miami on an academic scholarship. S Read Obituary
We are sorry for the loss of your mother. Helene and Walter were wonderful people, and dear friends of my parents. (Walter was best man when my parents were married). I recall vacations to Miami always included a visit to your home. May her memory be a blessing.

A lady my family knew since my father's UM football days with her husband Walter as the coach, as well as neighbors when I was growing up. Mrs Kichefski was such an elegant lady....through and through. 100 yrs old! What a full life she had. My thoughts and prayers to you, Mary and Angelo....and the rest of the family members who loved her.
Helene Kichefski was my CAP advisor at South Miami Senior High. I graduated in 1979. She was AMAZING! Thanks to her assistance I was able to go to UM. I graduated in 1983 with BS in Education. She was a kind and gentle soul. May she Rest In Peace 🙏🏻
The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame was saddened to learn of Helene's passing. She and her beloved husband, Walt, were both instrumental in the founding and the early years of the Hall of Fame. Though the Walter Kichefski Championship Lobby and the Walter Kichefski Endowed Football Scholarship, given each year by the UMSHoF, bear his name, we know that Helene was right next to him every step of the way. Someone who personified the words class and elegance, our thoughts and prayers go out to Helene's family, her many, many friends and all Canes fans who appreciate the legacy of Walt and Helene Kichefski. Helene and her husband were very special not only to the "U" but to everyone in the community. She was very special, a true Lady with a kind word for everyone and a helping hand as well. May she rest in peace, i know that her Legacy will live on.
