Hattie Ruth (Pat) Dowdell's Obituary
DOWDELL, Pat Crews (Hattie Ruth) born Nov 22, 1910 passed away peacefully Nov. 15, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 70 years, S. H. “Happy” Dowdell and daughter, Virginia. She is survived by daughter Caroline (Milner) Irvin, granddaughter Susan (Matthew) Clark, grandson Jim (Dania) Irvin,6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and good friend and devoted caretaker, Eve Wright. She grew up in Plant City, graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1933, and taught in Hillsborough Co. and in Miami after her marriage in 1937. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, which she served as a national officer for over 10 years, and of Coral Gables 1st United Methodist Church. She was a warm, gracious, wise lady with a wonderful sense of humor she retained to the end. She was loved and admired by her family and many friends. Visitation will be at 2 pm Sunday at Van Orsdel Kendall service at 2:30pm.
