Harvey A. Cole's Obituary
Harvey Alan Cole, age 94, of Miami, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
A visitation and memorial will be held on Thursday, June 13 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Van Orsdel Funeral Home on Kendall Drive in Miami.
Harvey was born on May 15, 1930 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Lloyd and Ruth V. Cole.
He proudly served in the US Navy as an engine mechanic on the USS Putnam, DD 757 during the Korean conflict.
He made his life’s work as a tractor-trailer driver and retired from Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #769.
In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Cole.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Margaret W. Cole, daughters Lauri Thomas (Scott), Terri Lamb (Tom), and a son Robert Cole (Silvia).
His legacy can be seen in his six granddaughters, Melanie Bleile (Jason), Christine Homyak, Karen Dinges (Max), Kelly Burkhart (Brandon), Ashley Cole, and Allison Cole, as well as eleven great grandchildren, Jenna Bleile, Michael Bleile, Nolan Bleile, Kaitlyn Colorusso, Michael Hernandez, Andrew Dinges, Caroline Dinges, Graham Dinges, Jackson Burkhart, Lucy Burkhart, Harrison Burkhart, and two nieces Eileen Rudy and Nancy Cole.
He was also loved by very special friends who are like family, William Garmen, II (deceased), Jane Klick (Paul), Bill Garmen, III (Tamiko), Bill Poder (deceased) Pat Poder, Terry Dudley, Charleen Dudley (deceased), Holly Gilzenberg, Ann Pettit, and Lazaro Garcia.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Disabled Americans Veterans or a charity of your choice.
