Harry W. Stinger's Obituary
HARRY W. STINGER JR, 95, born in Philadelphia, PA, to Harry W Stinger and Eleanor (Bendernagel),
passed away on Nov. 30, 2018, in Miami, FL. Harry served in World War II as Staff Sergeant with the
Army Corps of Combat Engineers stationed in Belgium and Germany. Returning from the war, he
brought his bride Maria to Miami, where he began a long career as a painting contractor, following in
the footsteps of his father and grandfather. He became known as “The Society Painter” because of his
excellent reputation, attention to perfection and memorable clients. Retiring in 1985 he resumed his
interest in mosaics, creating art with 3/8 inch ceramic squares, each individually painted and combined
to create a pixilated picture or portrait. Harry loved to travel and with Peggie visited over 60 countries.
He loved performing and music, often bursting into song. He never met a stranger, and regaled all
around him with jokes and humorous stories. Survivors include his wife Peggie Schultz Stinger of 36
years; daughter Spring Strong in Miami, granddaughter Christie Strong (Alex Beguin) and an almost here
great grandchild in Topanga, CA; daughter Autumn Danoff, (Sherwood) in Miami , grandson Anthony
Buttari (Elena), great grandchildren Bailey Reese, and Wynter of Dana Point, CA; daughter Summer
Branson in Kona, HA, granddaughter Brittany Branson, and great grandson Isaac. He is also survived by
a sister Eleanor Wix and nephew Bruce of Naples, FL. He lived a long and colorful life, and was always
grateful for his family and his friends. Donations may be made to the Wild Bird Sanctuary, 93600
Overseas Hwy., Tavernier, FL or to the Big Cat Habitat, 7101 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL. A Celebration of
Life will be held at the Stinger home, December 5 th , Noon ‘til 2:00 o’clock.
