Harold Rudolph Mardenborough's Obituary
Harold Rudolph "Harry" Mardenborough passed away on Friday February 1, 2019. He was 92. Harry had been a resident of Coral Gable, Florida for over 50 years. Harry was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 20, 1926. The family, which consisted of his father, Harold, mother Adina, and two sisters Ella and Aimee, moved to St. Thomas, USVI when he was a young child. He lived there until he joined the US Army at 18. After serving, though seeing no combat, he moved to South Florida. It was there that he met Mary Dunne, who he married in 1954. She pre-deceased Harry, passing in 2004. They had one son, Harold R. Mardenborough, Jr. He has three children, Harry's grandchildren - Jared, 24, Miranda, 21, and Rachel, 18. Accounting became Harry's chosen profession when he moved to Miami. He practiced in his small office in downtown Coral Gables until his retirement over 20 years ago. One of Harry's passions was to play tennis, a sport he picked up later in life but took up with a passion. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends and traveling. Harry and Mary particularly enjoyed taking vacation cruises. A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Little Flower at 11 am, Friday, February 8, 2019. There will be a reception held at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES FUNERAL CHAPEL at 4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, Florida. The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made to either a memory care charity of their choice or to the hospice of their choice. Both such entities were instrumental in providing Harry the best care he could get his last few years.
