Gregor "Greg" Joseph Schwinghammer's Obituary
Born in Albany, MN. Greg spent 12 1/2 years as a US Air Force F100 fighter pilot. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, personally briefed President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honored by President Reagan for a record 642 combat missions in Vietnam in one year. Greg flew with the Thunderbirds. He flew Mt. Ararat and saw Noah's Ark.
After his military service he was a Pan Am Captain. Later he was a flight instructor at the Pan Am Academy and the Airbus Academy in Miami.
Grandchildren were his favorite hobby. He played 15 instruments, windsurfed and water skied until the age of 80 and built his family's home in the Keys. He spent endless hours volunteering at St. Louis Church and for the Knights of Columbus. His life exemplified what a Godly man should be.
He is survived by his wife Norma, 7 siblings, 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held on June 5th, at 2:30pm at St. Louis Church 7270 SW 120th Street, Pinecrest, Florida
A private reception will follow.
