Rest in peace Grant. My husband has shared so many stories about his time with you overseas. Although I never met you, you will always hold a place in my heart for being such a special friend to Tommy. You are missed very much.

I just found out today the news. Jose called me and told me the sad news it hit me hard. I have been emailing and calling him for months and no response. I first met Grant in Iraq. When I first met him I would have never guessed 2 yrs later we would be such good friends.Our friendship grew when it was just me and him in Afghanistan. We hung out all the time, we worked side by side. He was a hard worker. We did kick back and chill to. When I told him I was getting married he wanted to come to the wedding he was so happy. I have so many good and funny memories with him. Some thought he was mean but he is just like me so it was funny. Me, him and Jose would go sneak off and get smoothies at the boardwalk. We would go and eat every Sunday. I miss you so much brother.

Man... I am just learning this news now. I am saddened at the fact that Grant is no longer with us, but I am grateful having known Grant. I spent some time with Grant in Afghanistan. Grant was a unique guy. He NEVER ate at the DFAC, he always ate out or cooked in his room. He would get these care packages from home with all sorts of food and would run down his menu for me. I was a little envious, :) We were both the same age only he was born in May and I was born in November, thus making him the "old man" in our group. And, I never let him forget that. These and many more memories of the time Grant was in my life are forever in my mind and heart. I'll miss you buddy...
