Gonzalo G. Rodriguez's Obituary
Gonzalo G. Rodriguez, 91, of Miami, FL, passed away on May 23rd, 2024. He was born in Jaruco, Cuba, on December 5th, 1932. Gonzalo graduated from La Universidad de La Habana where he received a Medical Degree in 1956. He married Magda Rodriguez on December 16th, 1956.
Escaping the Castro regime by boat to join his family in Miami in 1962, was one of the most pivotal chapters in his life. He was a successful anesthesiologist for 22 years, serving as the President of the Department of Anesthesiology at Baptist, and worked in many of the top hospitals in Miami.
He leaves behind a legacy of 5 children, a beloved goddaughter, 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Papo, as he was affectionately called by his family, had an adventurous spirit. He was an avid boater, loved to fish and snow-ski and enjoyed fine wine. Playing tennis, dancing and vacationing with his family were some of his favorite past times.
He is survived by his wife, Magda, children, Magdi, Esther, Mercy (Jose), Mary Lou (George) and Gonzy (Mana), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
