Gloria C. Meeks 's Obituary
MEEKS, GLORIA CATHERINE (Lucas) (87), of Miami, FL, passed into Glory on 11/27/18
and into the hands of our Lord. She was born in Sun, WV on 9/20/31 to John Lucas and Ada Fitzgerald. A true coal miner’s daughter. She was the youngest of 4 children. Gloria leaves behind 6 children, Ginger (Tim), Cathy, Vicki (Bruce), Gloria (Ed), Laura and Buddy “the love of her life”, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her loving husband C.V., of 62 blessed years. She is also survived by her dear sister Mary Jane and many beloved nieces and nephews. Gloria worked for Western Union for many years and was involved in numerous clubs; Fla. Federation of Garden Clubs (wherein she became a “Master Judge” in floral design), several local garden clubs, New Neighbors, Slim & Trim Health Club, The Wow Center, and was the Chairman of Volunteers for The American Red Cross, to name a few. She and C.V. were married at Shenandoah Presbyterian Church and raised their family there. Just last week she spoke of how thankful she was that her children loved each other and that all loved the Lord! She loved her family and she loved people. Her mantra during many stays in the hospital/rehab was.. you can’t come into my room without a smile. Smiling is healing. She made everyone smile!
We love you Mom, Mema and my sweet Gloria!
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am (viewing at 9:30 am), 12/1/18, at Kendall Presbyterian Chturch, 8485 SW 112 Street, Miami, FL.
