GLADYS ESTHER ALVAREZ, 85
Gladys Esther Alvarez was born in San Nicolas de Bari, Havana, Cuba on March 22, 1932. She entered Heaven's gates on March 18, 2016.
She was a seamstress by trade, but more importantly, a devoted wife, consummate mother and homemaker. She possessed a contagious smile and was passionate about cooking. She will be remembered for the many signature dishes that she so enjoyed preparing for her family and friends. To her no meal (or day) was complete without her "cafecito Cubano that evoked the sweetness of her love for those to whom she served them to.
Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, Rene Alvarez. She is survived by three children they both so proudly raised. They are Rene J. Alvarez, MD and his wife Norma, daughter Gladys Garcia-Greenberg (Alvarez), son George A. Alvarez and wife Amanda.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and was known as "Abuela" to Andrew, Richard, Samantha, Evan, Lucas and Jackson.
Gladys will travel from Miami to her final resting place in NY to be laid to rest with her loving husband. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating her life will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, New Jersey.
