Giovanna De La Cruz's Obituary
Giovanna de la Cruz, age 54, died peacefully February 28, 2025. She is survived by her three children Gianna, Marco and Angelina, mother Malva Machado and Soulmate, Marco A. Laureti. Giovanna was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. At 18 years old, the Castro Government gave her permission to travel to Peru to represent Cuba in a Latin music festival. During that music festival, and with the help of the Vatican, she gathered the courage to defect from Cuba. The Vatican took her from Peru to Spain where she lived for 2 years and finished college. Giovanna then moved to Miami to join her mother, Malva. In Miami, she obtained a degree in Broadcast Journalism from University of Miami and worked in front of the cameras for Univision Television. Her work with Univision included roles in Telenovelas, but she was mostly internationally known for bringing joy and laughter in her role in Sabado Gigante's Comedy, La Familia Fernandez", where she was better known as "Isabelita". Giovanna left the Television business to begin her most fulfilling life calling in motherhood. Giovanna’s pride and joy were her three children, with whom she dedicated the rest of her life. Giovanna was a fashionista who started a fashion company to style women and later represented brands such as Chanel jewelry. Giovanna had a lifelong commitment to her faith as a Christian, including sending her children for a Christian education at Florida Christian School. A Celebration of Giovanna’s life will be held at 4pm, Sunday, March 9th, 2025, at the Christ Journey Church, 624 Anastasia Ave. Coral Gables, FL 33134
