George Marvin "Poppy" Hand of Miami, FL sadly lost his long battle with cancer June 21, 2011 at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother & Friend. He retired from Miami-Dade County Parks & Rec. in 2001. He was survived by his children: Windy (Mike) Williams who took care of him every step of the way, Mike (Vicki) Hand, & Sandy (Doug) Scharroo. His sister Elizabeth (Joe) Treml. His grandchildren: Nicole (Joe) Nielson, Jessica (Nick) Hoyos, Kimberly (Matthew) Williamson, Kyle Hand, Dillon, Gregory, & Jeff Scharroo. His unofficial adopted son Glen (Sylvia) Ruperto & his most precious gifts his great granddaughters: Marley & Taylor Nielson & Bella Hoyos. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Cancer Society. There will be a celebration of life after the service at Sports Grill, 9090 SW 97TH Ave. from 1-5 PM. Visitation 9:30 am until Service time 10:30 am Friday at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL, 4600 SW 8 ST. Burial Flagler Memorial Park.
