GEORGE EASTWOOD YATES's Obituary
George Eastwood Yates
12/16/84 – 05/03/2017
33 years old
Kind to his fellowman
Champion of the Underdog
Attended Arch Bishop Carroll High School and transferred to Christopher Columbus Boys School for 11th and 12th grade. He was a pitcher on the baseball team for both schools.
He was an amazing person from the time he was born. Never demanding and always creating play and entertaining himself.
He had an exemplarily career in the Air Force. He was honored to be a part of the Air Force. He was outstanding in basic training and always wanted to be an EOD Technician (Explosive Ordinance Disposal). He graduated EOD training at the top of his class.
During his service in the Middle East he represented himself with uncommon valor, many times without regard for his own safety. He was honored by both the Airforce and the Army for his actions in Helmond Province, Afghanistan.
He loved his son Jack and spent many happy hours with him fishing and playing by the sea. He always made time for Jack assuring that the precious time he had with him was to make Jack’s life better. At age 5, he chose his own nickname. He wanted to be called “Sparky”. It stuck and he is still called that name by his family to this day.
He was an example to all. It is an unspeakable loss to the world. Survived by his mother, Deborah Yates, his father, George Yates and his sister, Sarah Yates.
