George Pappas' Obituary
George Pappas, 83, of Miami, FL passed away on September 6, 2025. Born on September 8, 1941 to Soterios George Pappas and Cathleen Grimsley Pappas, George lived a full and generous life, and was predeceased by his twin brother, John Pappas, who passed in infancy.
George graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1960 and later attended the College of Central Florida. His career in the construction industry spanned more than 40 years. Throughout his career and as President of Pappas Construction, Inc., he mined rock and stone in Cocoa, Ft. Pierce, and Miami, FL, built roads in Miami-Dade County, and mined coal in Ohio. One of his last earthwork projects included civil engineering, excavation, and land clearing for Everglades Restoration. For several years, George was a Co-Trustee of the Henry and Kathryn Mills Foundation.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Della Diane Pappas, his son George, Jr. (Suzanne) Pappas, his sister Ada (Roger) Sullivan, and sister-in-law Barbara (Donald) Powell.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 11220 North Kendall Drive, Miami, FL.
He will be laid to rest at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North in Miami, FL, resting beside his beloved father in the family mausoleum, their bond enduring beyond this life.
