Frederick Francis Stockhausen Jr. Age 90 of Miami, Florida
Frederick Francis Stockhausen Jr. Age 90 of Miami, Florida died on May 5, 2020 at home from a long-term illness. He was born in Miami on May 30, 1929 and was married to Martha Bowers Stockhausen for 70 years. He worked in the Engineering department of Florida Power and Light for 40 years. He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower and a longtime member of the Wood Turners Guild. He was very artistic and handy. He could fix almost anything. He loved making wooden bowls and won first prize at the Dade County Youth Fair 6 times for his beautiful bowls. He also made furniture including rocking horses and cradles for his grandchildren. He loved to fish and to go shrimping. He was a member of the Florida Marine Aquarium Society and made beautiful salt water aquariums. He served as both Boy Scout leader and Cub Master for many years and his troops enjoyed frequent camping and hiking trips. His knowledge of native Florida plants and animals made any nature hike fascinating. He loved to share this knowledge with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with his stories of the early years in Miami.
He is survived by his loving wife Martha, daughter Jane Nelson, and sons Charles, Edward, Peter, Neal, Paul and Kevin, brother Joseph Stockhausen and Sister Mary Carol O’Chipa. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Rose Stockhausen, Sisters Rosemary Mills and Dorothy Gresham, sons Frederick III, John, and Steven. He has 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He recently celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary surrounded by family.
Private funeral services will be held at The Church of the Little Flower on Monday, May 11, 2020 with burial following at Woodlawn South Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorials be made to The Church of the Little Flower or Christopher Columbus High School.
