FREDERICK JOHN POLLAK's Obituary
Frederick John (“FJ”) Pollak (53), of Miami Beach, Florida, passed away in the company of his loving family Sunday afternoon, April 3, at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Florida.
FJ was a dedicated and caring husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Abigail; their children, Jonathan, Matthew and Abigail Marie, as well as his daughters Emma and Megan; and his sister Marisa.
In 1996, FJ founded TracFone, a wireless telecommunications company that offered prepaid wireless phones. Thereafter, TracFone partnered with America Movil. Under FJ’s twenty years as president and chief executive officer, TracFone grew to become America’s largest no-contract wireless service provider with product offerings in over 90,000 retailers nationwide.
FJ was Vice Chairman of the Board at the Cushman School and a Trustee. He also served as secretary of the Board of Directors at La Gorce Country Club and was Chairman of the Golf Committee. FJ was passionate about golf, both as a player and through philanthropy where he focused on giving back to the community.
Services will be held Thursday, April 7th at the Van Orsdel Chapel, 3333 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida. The viewing and service will be from 10AM – 1PM, followed by a funeral at Woodlawn North Cemetery, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida from 1-3PM.
